Mopley is an unaffiliated riding club which was founded in 1964 for like minded people that enjoy horses and riding and has around 230 members. The main aim of the club is for members to have fun in a relaxed, friendly and safe atmosphere where the novices are given time and encouragement and the more experienced can still progress.
Whilst not having a ‘home base’, events are held at various locations in the Fawley, Waterside and New Forest area. All ages and abilities are welcome, both human and equine; most of the events are suitable for lead rein through to the experienced. We have regular access to a field (near Fawley) throughout the summer where we hold all types of events from Cross Country and a large Annual show to fun games, kids activity week, schooling sessions and a hog roast. At other times they are forest based such as treasure hunts, quiz, activity and social rides.
A points system runs throughout the year separated into seniors, older juniors and young juniors with trophies and rosettes awarded to the winners. There is a range of trophies awarded at the AGM and others can be won at various events. (See trophies page for more details)
A monthly newsletter keeps members fully informed of future dates, gives full results from previous events and members are able to advertise for free.
All committee members, although voluntary, are a dedicated team who put in many hours of hard work to make the events happen. We are lucky to have Sue who sources the rosettes, we are well known for presenting some of the best!
Jenny and Jane are the equine experts and are always willing to give advice whether it is on horse, tack or how to ride the point to point!
We own a large amount of show jumps and portable cross country fences so enabling us to have a variety of rings and courses.
You are welcome to join us on Facebook where you can chat to other members and leave your thoughts.
